Do you have what it takes?

A summer (or summers) spent as a member of the Anderson Woods Summer Camp staff is just about as much fun as one can have during the summer.  It is also lots of hard work.  Those individuals who have joined us in the past for eight weeks during June and July have found the experience to be both challenging and extremely rewarding.  For these reasons and many more, many of our staff members find themselves returning to Anderson Woods to work as a paid counselor or as a volunteer for numerous summers.

Although our staff members may find prior experiences working with individuals with special needs valuable when working at our camp, we do not require that applicants have any formal training or experience working with the population we serve.  We only ask that our staff members be hard working and committed to cultivating a safe and enjoyable summer camp experience for our campers.  We will provide the necessary training during our four-day staff orientation prior to campers' arrival.  During this training session you will become familiar with the philosophy of our camp, the needs of our campers, and the ways in which we serve those needs in the many fun activities we do!

Anderson Woods is the camp for you if...

  • You have a genuine interest in special children and adults and a strong desire to help them learn and grow...
  • You don't mind long hours and hard work in a hot outdoor environment where you might find a few bugs...
  • You desire to grow personally and professionally...
  • You want a summer job where you are truly making a difference...
  • You want to gain valuable experience for college or your future career...
  • You love sharing challenges and forming life-long memories with your new best friends (your fellow staff members) while helping and enjoying your other new best friends (the campers).
